LANCUM-F965A6 BROOCH

Cast cu-alloy trumpet brooch fragment dating from the early Roman period, ie. c. AD75-175. Only part of the bow and the trumpet head survive. The moulded knop in the centre of the bow would have been a stylised reel-and-acanthus-leave-decoration which is typical for trumpet brooches. The spring which would have been ‘housed’ below the trumpet-shaped terminal and the pin as well as the pin rest are missing.
